Extra(Ordinary) Me

2015

Various Voluntary Welfare Organisations, Singapore

'Extra(Ordinary) Me' was part of 'I See You See Me', a solo exhibition along the Esplanade tunnel from August to November 2015.

This retrospective initiative focuses on self and identity. The participants were from 20 odd Voluntary Welfare Organisations (VWOs) around Singapore. It endeavours to give the ordinary self more credit and love by encouraging participants to reflect on their special quality before visually translating their ‘special-ness into a self-impression. It can be tied to their identity, loved ones, interests and careers among others. But most of all, these sessions are meant for them to relax, have fun, and to enjoy the process of discovering a part of them that probably went unnoticed.

Almost 700 art works were displayed in the Esplanade tunnel. They were voices from the people, for the people.
