Poppy

2020

Singapore

Poppy is a Made-for-the-Internet theatre experiment.

Responding to theatre doyen Kuo Pao Kun’s Silly Little Girl and The Funny Old Tree, Poppy follows the story of a teenage environmentalist in present-day Singapore. It combines interactive elements, social media, camera wizardry and live performances to tell a re-imagined tale about loss and the fight to protect what you love. This performance is the first of a long-running advocacy project that hopes to engage young people in climate-focused narratives.

This video is a trailer. The show is currently being roved to various schools in Singapore. The artist, Mary Bernadette Lee drew the illustrations and animator, Jon Chan pieced them together to form the narratives.
