The Whole is More Than the Sum of its Parts

80 x 80, 2017

Esplanade Theatres by the Bay, Singapore

Clay ceramic vessels have been crafted by human cultures through a process of pottery around the world for a significant time for artistic, symbolic and utilitarian purposes. They are made with earth, shaped by man, strengthened by fire. Likewise, the man belonging to the world is cultivated by the environment, endowed by his own experiences and matured with time. Collectively, through these shared experiences, the community is made strong by the amalgamation of curious minds, progressive thinkers and assiduous efforts.

80by80 is a group exhibition featuring the works of 38 Singapore artists who have journeyed with the centre over the last 15 years held at the Esplanade Tunnel. The artists were invited to each create a unique piece of work measuring 80cm x 80cm.
