Of Cuckoos and Sparrows

2016

DECK, Singapore

Of Cuckoos and Sparrows was an inquiry into the prevalence of form and content in relationship to the authorship in the landscape of hyper-exposures. Each artist is assigned a random counterpart each. They are to conduct simple research on the assigned counterpart in order to distill and imitate the stylistic inclination of the assigned counterpart. The content or the subject matter of the work remains thematically consistent to his or her own body of work. Their assigned counterpart will be made known only to them and it is recommended that it remain undisclosed during the course of the experiment.

The participating artists were Mary Bernadette Lee, Ho Wai Kit, Tay Kai Yee, Ng Xin Li, Lim Qixuan, Teresa Lim, Nur Aida Sa’ad, Allison M. Low and Dan Wong.

Of Cuckoos and Sparrows was co-organised with A Whispering Campaign and it was held at DECK @ 2902 Gallery, a space for Visual Arts.
